What I Wish I Knew at 20 - A Message to the Next Generation
Dear reader,
If we were sitting together with a cup of tea, this is what I would want to share with you.
Not as an expert.
But as a woman, a grandmother, and someone who has lived a full life.
When I was your age, I thought success meant doing more, working hard, being strong. I thought I had to prove myself all the time, to be liked, to belong, to be good enough.
And yes, I achieved many things.
But deep inside… I often felt tired. Or lost. Or just not me.
So here’s what I’ve learned over the years and what I wish I knew earlier in life:
1. You are enough.
Really. You don’t have to do anything to earn that.
You are already worthy, just by being who you are.
2. Real strength is being honest.
You don’t always have to be strong or perfect.
It’s okay to slow down. It’s okay to ask for help.
Being open is not weak, it’s brave.
3. Protect your energy.
Your body, your mind, your rest, they matter.
Learn to say “no” when something drains you.
Take care of yourself like someone you love.
4. Your inner voice matters.
There’s a quiet voice inside you that knows what feels right and what doesn’t.
Trust it. You don’t have to follow the crowd.
You can choose what fits you.
5. Stand strong, even when life feels messy.
Life is not always easy. It can feel loud and confusing.
But like a tree with deep roots, you can stay calm in the storm.
The most beautiful moments are often small and simple.
And they bring you a feeling of peace that no one can take away.
So if you're feeling lost, tired, or unsure ... pause.
Breathe.
And ask yourself: What do I really need right now?
Your well-being is not a bonus.
It is the starting point for everything else.
You don’t need to become someone else.
Just come home to yourself.
From my heart to yours,
🧡 Danielle
