3 Ways to Stay Cheerful When the World Tries to Bring You Down
Discovering how to keep your inner sunshine shining
Ever had one of those summers where two months in, and you're starting to wonder if the sun has decided to take a sabbatical? How about those classic grey, drizzly days when you're practically sending up sun dances, but Mother Nature insists on playing hard to get?
Do you throw a mini-tantrum? Let your mood hang on the weather's unpredictable whims. Here are three nuggets of wisdom to pivot your energy – not just when the sky has a mood swing, but for those moments in life when the proverbial toast falls jam-side down.
1. Shift your Glasses (and We Don't Mean Sunglasses).
"If you change the way you look at things,
the things you look at change." - Dr. Wayne Dyer
It's all about perspective! Instead of seeing the rain as a wet blanket, consider it nature's sprinkler system. A little moisture is essential to keep things lush and green, not to mention it's fantastic for our hair (Hello, free hair spa!). And absolutely nothing stops you from taking a delightful rain walk, umbrella optional. Remember, you're not sugar; you won't melt! Approach the challenges in life with this same lens and watch the storms become dances in the rain.
2. Spot the Silver Lining.
"Every adversity, every failure, every heartache
carries with it the seed of an equal or greater benefit." - Napoleon Hill
If Mother Nature decides to throw in some cloudy interludes, why not use it as an excuse to play indoor board games or treat yourself to a nap so luxurious even cats would be envious? Play some tunes, light a few candles, and maybe throw in some impromptu indoor camping. Every cloud (literally) has a silver lining if you look for it!
3. Remember, This Too Shall Pass.
"You can't calm the storm, so stop trying.
What you can do is calm yourself. The storm will pass." - Timber Hawkeye
If there's one universal truth, it's that after the rain, there's bound to be some sunshine. Heck, if the British can stay hopeful about sunshine, so can you! So, chin up! Maybe the universe wants us to appreciate the good stuff more by occasionally hiding it.
So, send some gratitude vibes into the universe and expect the sun to make its grand re-entry! I promise it's just around the corner. Here's to nature's marvel and the wonder that is you!
